Congrats to Kevin!

Kevin Hackney has recently been installed as the new President of the Austin Peay State University National Alumni Association.

This is a great honor and places him in an excellent position to have impact with the future of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and greeks in general on our campus, as well as assisting with opening dialogue with university administration on policitical issues that directly impact our chapter.

This position brings presitige to our fraternity, having one of our fraternity alumni serving in this capacity, as well as being only the second Kappa Sigma to serve as National President, with the first being our own Dr. William Bailey Allen.

Kevin will be representing the university at many functions, visiting and socializing with our fellow alumni all over the United States.

Our hats are off to Kevin. We are proud of you and the honor you bring to Mu Tau Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

We're in the news!
Kappa Sigma welcomes new students to Austin Peay
In this semester's first edition of APSU's student-run newspaper, The All State, you will find a half-page ad placed by our chapter welcoming both new and returning students to campus. Garnering a positive image on campus, as well as potential members, the visibility Kappa Sigma will receive for this publicity is a positive step towards increasing our Fall Rush numbers this semester.

Kel says:
I'm in the front right in the boat, Steve is front left- my brother.
Terry is behind me and my brothe.r Corey is the river guide in the back of the boat.
This is something we can get a group together to do some time- It was a blast!
They need some cooler helmets, though. My wife told me I look like Buzz Lightyear with the little helmet on my big head.

Golf and Grub in Clarksville!
Saturday, June 7th

Take me to the photos!

(In the words of Kel Topping)

Breakfast
Oh, what a grand time we had this past weekend in Clarksville. We started at Ron Leath's with one of the best breakfasts' I have ever eaten. Those garlic cheese grits and pineapple something's were unbelievable, along with the cheese eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, muffins, quiche and more. Mary Anne and her mother prepared a feast for kings. Meanwhile, Ron was outside under the cabana making beverages, you know tomato juice and orange juice with fixins. It was great to see the crowd that came and everyone was able to meet a few new Mu-Tau alums.

Golf
The golf course rangers kept driving by us for some reason. They surely didn't think 25 guys that showed up at their course carrying cups of orange juice and tomato juice with celery stalks sticking out of them, were going to cause any trouble. All went very well. There was some major yelling and and hooping going on a couple of times within earshot. The biggest one was when Ron Leath smacked a hole-in-one. I think there was some kind of home course conspiracy, if only I could figure out a way that could happen. There were other loud cheers when Horse chipped in off the green for birdie, and then did it again from the sand trap 3 holes later. He was penalized two strokes, though, when he 4 putted after hitting the green on a par three and then proceeded to crush the ball off the green with his putter. Bill "Golden Rod" Ferguson happened to be standing 5 feet away in the path of the ball and had a golf ball size knot rise up on his shin. Horse repaired the divot that was left on the green, and we decided to give him any puts inside 15 feet the rest of the day. It was decided when we all gathered at the clubhouse after the round, that this is officially a yearly event.

Cookout
And then there was Doc's. I have never had a better chop in my life. There are rumors the sop recipe was stolen and sold, for a very high price, to an unidentified Mu-Tau alum. It was vintage Doc, it couldn't have been any better. The current house building options were presented and there was an intense 1 1/2 hour Q & A session.

It was a wonderful weekend and the crowd was large. I believe everyone had a great time.

Scandal in Chattanooga!

Doc shows Alums at the Chattanooga meeting just what he thinks of them.

Actually, our photographer (who happens to be Doc's son) caught Doc Allen in mid-gesture. While expounding upon how proud he was of the level of Alumni involvement, Bailey Allen nailed home each point with animated hand gestures.
The result: Tripp, being both photographer and webmaster, gained an opportunity to post an "incriminating" photo on the website!
Many Alums attended the series of on-the-road presentations and helped Mu Tau to reach towards our goal. Much was accomplished during the meetings, and much fun was had by all.
